Board Elections Scheduled for June 17 at MHA's Annual General Membership Meeting

There are 6 positions up for election this year.

Positions and their descriptions are below.

Vice President

No Incumbent Running
- Attend monthly Board meetings, participate in email communication, and maintain records.
- Sign for checks drawn on the MHA checking account or for the execution of contracts.
- Chair of the Tournament Committee including Leftover Turkey and Mac Attack, possibly hosting state.
- Member of the By-Laws and Handbook Committee.
- Assume all duties of the President in the event of absence or resignation.


Coach Coordinator

Dave Bell Running 

- Attend monthly Board meetings, participate in email communication, and maintain records.
- In conjunction with the Girls, House, and Competition Directors, make recommendations to the Board concerning primary coaching selections.
- Work with MHA Office Manager to ensure all Coaches are certified as required for their Divisions, are listed appropriately with USA Hockey, background checks are up to date, and SafeSport is up to date.
- Serve as Chair of the Discipline Committee.
- Ensure the Discipline Committee is staffed with Competition and House Program representatives.
- Competition Program Director and Coach Coordinator will co-write competition coach contracts.
- Will attend practices for all teams and communicate with players’ families to better facilitate the program.
- Work with MHA Office Manager to create and distribute end-of-season coaching survey, reviewing and sharing results as needed. Use information to inform future coaching placements.
- Provide coaches with Coaching Responsibilities Protocol and any updates from Alaska State Hockey Association and/or USA Hockey.

House Program Director

Amanda Bell Running

- Attend monthly Board meetings, participate in email communication, and maintain records.
- Plan the structure and program for the House teams 
- Responsible for player registration at the time of tryouts and evaluations, assist with Competition team's tryouts and player registration.
- Responsible for implementing the Board's plan for House Player evaluations and House Team selection process 10U-18U
- Act as liaison with other youth hockey associations, programs, leagues
- Attend ASHA House Council meetings.
- Make recommendations to the Board and Coach Coordinator concerning all House team coaching assignments

- Assist with committees as needed.

- Participate in initial parent and Team Manager meetings.
- Communicate with players’ families to better facilitate the program.
- Order Coach jackets


Volunteer Coordinator

No Incumbent Running
- Attend monthly Board meetings, participate in email communication, and maintain records.
- Work with MHA Office Manager to develop and maintain Volunteer Database and ensure formal volunteers complete background check and SafeSport.
- Liaison between the Board and volunteers to assist with events, projects, and staffing committees when necessary. This includes, but is not limited to: Bear Paw Parade, Try Hockey for Free, Leftover Turkey Tournament, and Mac Attack.
- Assist with Registration for both Competition and House teams and solicit volunteers.
- Be a member of the Tournament, House Program, and Competition Program Committees.

Girls Coordinator

Nic Dutton Running

- Attend monthly Board meetings, participate in email communication, and maintain records.
- Make recommendations to the Board and Coach Coordinator concerning all Girls Division coaching assignments.
- Act as liaison with other girl youth hockey associations, programs, and leagues
- Attend ASHA Girls’/ Women’s Council Meetings.
- Work with the House Program Director to conduct Girls Evaluations and/or the Competition Program Director to conduct Girls Tryouts.
- Member of the Tournament, Discipline, House Program and Competition Program committees
- Will communicate with girls’ families to better facilitate the program.
- Organize a summer clinic and participation in spring tournaments
- Work with Public Relations, Office Manager, and Secretary to promote AK Wild, contributing to team page on MHA's website


Public Relations Coordinator

No Incumbent Running
John DeCaro Running

- Attend monthly Board meetings, participate in email communication, and maintain records.
- Be responsible for publicizing activities, promoting public awareness of MHA, and coordinating awards and presentations for players and Members of MHA, including but not limited to festivals and Bear Paw Parade.
- Maintain liaison with local schools, governmental agencies, and other non-hockey organizations.

- Oversee the dissemination of information of marketing communications, as well as manage MHA social media sites.
- Work with MHA Secretary, Treasurer, and Office Manager in regards to supervising all sponsorship activities, ensuring website, banners, and other documents are up to date.
Be a member of the Tournament, House Program, and Competition Program Committees.
