For Volunteers

Requirements for Formal Volunteering

1. USA Hockey Confirmation Number:
Register with USA hockey as a coach.  This must be done every season.  https://www.usahockeyregistration.com/login_input.action

2. Safesport:
All volunteers that have regular contact with, or supervision over, minor participants must complete SafeSport training. This does not include moving boards, running the clock, keeping score, or assisting with tournaments. Anyone in locker rooms or on the ice will need the training.

The SafeSport Training and Refresher Training are each valid for one (1) season beginning on 4/1/19.  Please Note: if you took the training during the 2018-19 season, it is still valid for the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.

As of January 1, 2018, all relevant individuals who need to be SafeSport certified or are seeking recertification will need to complete the new SafeSport training, which features updated content.

Once you have completed the Core SafeSport Course, there will be a Refresher Course available for individuals who have previously completed the core SafeSport course and need to re-certify. Users completing the SafeSport refresher course will be certified for an additional season.

If you have never taken the SafeSport training please do so before volunteering in an official capacity.  http://www.usahockey.com/safesporttrainin

3. Background Check:
This expires every 2 years and is done ONLY through the ASHA website. This is required before volunteering in an official capacity.
